CAADA, fundraising review and recruitment

CAADA is a second tier charity, working to improve the effectiveness of statutory and voluntary responses to domestic abuse. It had identified two key issues about its fundraising programme and asked for advice about how to resolve those and for evidence-based estimates about its fundraising potential. Alison interviewed current donors and gathered evidence to support increased charitable trust fundraising and a new major donor programme.

Since then, Alison has prepared a case for support for a revised training strategy and helped recruit a new Head of Fundraising.

Jessie May Trust, fundraising plan for growth

The Jessie May Trust is a leader in palliative care at home for children with life-limiting conditions. Interest in palliative care is growing, as are the numbers of families requiring specialist support. Alison reviewed the current fundraising programme and made recommendations about how it could be improved in order to support an organisational strategy for growth. This included developing a new brand concept, case for support and new direct marketing programme.

The consultancy project was funded by a charitable trust which used it to learn about long term sustainable fundraising. Alison continues to mentor the Head of Fundraising and has joined the Board of Trustees.

Royal Philharmonic Society, Bicentenary Appeal

The RPS wanted to celebrate its bicentenary by commissioning new classical music, giving more support to young musicians and revitalising its membership scheme. Alison is leading the Bicentenary Appeal and on-going fundraising, preparing the case for support, setting targets, supporting Trustees and staff, organising fundraising events and writing grant applications.

The Anglican Shrine at Walsingham, capital appeal £2.5 million

Walsingham aimed to raise £2.5 million to build a new Visitors’ Centre and accommodation for pilgrims at its listed site in Norfolk. Alison prepared a case for support, researching potential donors before doing a feasibility study to determine how much could be raised, how long it would take and what the approach should be. She then prepared the fundraising strategy and supported the Director and Development Board throughout the Appeal, writing the £680k application to the Heritage Lottery Fund. Everyone on the Development Board gave and donations were received from the Lottery, charitable trusts, individuals and pilgrims from the UK and overseas. £2.6 million was raised and the new Wing was opened by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh in October 2009.

Since then, Alison has worked with Walsingham to develop on-going fundraising and a legacy campaign.
